Node Benefits

Nodes provide more than a location in Mythic Spell Book. Depending on the Node and its tier, they can provide access to cities, economic activity, resource advantages, businesses, trading opportunities and other benefits that connect players to the wider game world.

Quick Reference

  • Persistent location: A Node exists as part of the wider Mythic Spell Book world.
  • City access: Nodes can support cities and city development.
  • Economic activity: Nodes connect players to businesses, resources and trading.
  • Resource advantages: Some Nodes provide resource bonuses or other production advantages.
  • Ownership: Applicable Nodes can be player-owned.
  • Management: Owners can manage their Node themselves or delegate operational duties.
  • Higher tiers: Higher Node tiers can provide greater benefits than entry-level Nodes.

Overview

Node benefits come from the systems and opportunities attached to the Node rather than from a single bonus.

A Node can provide a base of operations for city development, resource production, businesses and trading. As Mythic Spell Book has expanded, these systems have become increasingly interconnected, making the Node an important part of long-term gameplay.

The exact benefits available can vary between Nodes and Node tiers, so players should look at both the Node itself and the systems operating within it.

How It Works

Node Tiers

Mythic Spell Book Nodes exist at different tiers. Higher tiers are intended to provide greater advantages, scarcity and economic value than lower tiers.

GreyDragon is continuing to document the exact benefits attached to each tier as the system develops.

Resource Benefits

Some Nodes provide bonuses that affect particular resources or production opportunities. These bonuses can make certain resources more attractive to produce or trade within that Node.

A Node with a strong bonus to a particular resource may be better suited to specialising in the industries that use or produce that resource.

Cities

Cities operating within a Node provide much of its productive capacity. Buildings, population, businesses and infrastructure allow the Node to generate and consume resources and participate in the wider economy.

A well-developed city can therefore increase the practical value of the Node beyond its basic tier benefits.

Businesses and Trading

Nodes can support businesses and trade relationships between players, businesses and AI-controlled organisations.

These relationships can create opportunities that are not available simply by producing resources inside a city.

Management

Node ownership and Node management are separate concepts.

The owner controls the asset, while day-to-day operational duties may be carried out by the owner or by a Node Manager where delegation is supported.

GreyDragon uses Node Manager for the operational role currently referred to as Mayor in parts of Mythic Spell Book.

Key Data

A Node’s tier describes the class of Node ownership. This is separate from the Node’s current level and from the level of any city operating inside it.

Node Level represents the development of the Node itself. GreyDragon is still documenting exactly which benefits, unlocks, limits and economic changes occur at each Node Level.

Node Level

Nodes themselves progress through:

Node Level 1 → 10

Node Level represents the development of the Node itself. GreyDragon is still documenting exactly which benefits, unlocks, limits and economic changes occur at each Node Level.

City Level

Cities have their own progression system, separate from both Node Tier and Node Level:

City Level 0 → 25

City Level applies to the development of the city itself. It is separate from Node Level and Node Tier. City progression can affect access to buildings, research and other systems as the city develops.

Node Tier vs Node Level vs City Level

These systems operate independently. A player can therefore have a particular Node Tier, a Node at a particular Node Level, and a city at a completely different City Level. When GreyDragon discusses a Node’s development, these three values should always be identified separately.

GreyDragon Notes

Practical information based on GreyDragon gameplay, testing, city reviews and node operations.

Confirmed

Nodes connect to multiple Mythic Spell Book systems including cities, resources, businesses and economic activity.

Node tiers differ, and higher tiers can provide greater benefits than lower tiers.

GreyDragon Managed Nodes are operated on behalf of their owners while ownership of the Node and its assets remains with the client.

Observed

Resource bonuses can materially affect which industries or production chains are attractive within a particular Node.

The practical value of a Node also depends heavily on how effectively its city, resources and economic opportunities are developed rather than on tier alone.

Still Testing

GreyDragon is continuing to document the exact relationship between Node tier, resource bonuses, economic advantages and other benefits.

Individual Node advantages should therefore be checked against current in-game information before making major investment or production decisions.

Strategy & Recommendations

A Node’s headline tier should not be the only factor used when deciding what to do with it.

Before committing resources, consider:

  • The Node’s specific resource bonuses
  • Existing city infrastructure
  • Available population and workers
  • Current production capacity
  • Local businesses
  • Trading opportunities
  • AI corporation relationships
  • Resource shortages and surpluses
  • The owner’s long-term goals

A lower-tier Node with a useful specialisation and well-developed city may provide more practical value than a higher-tier Node that has not been developed around its strengths.

GreyDragon’s approach is to identify what a Node is naturally good at, then build its city and economy around those advantages rather than attempting to produce everything equally.

Common Problems

I Don't Know What My Node's Bonus Is Good For

Likely cause: A resource bonus is useful only when it connects to a viable production or trading strategy.

What to check: Identify the boosted resource, which buildings produce it, which industries consume it and whether there is demand for it.

Possible solution: Build around the resource where the economics justify it rather than simply increasing production because a bonus exists.

My Node Has Good Bonuses but Is Not Performing Well

Likely cause: The city or economy may not be developed enough to exploit the Node’s advantages.

What to check: Population, staffing, infrastructure, production chains, businesses and resource shortages.

Possible solution: Fix the underlying city bottlenecks before expanding specialised production.

Should I Produce Everything in My Node?

Likely cause: It can be tempting to make every Node self-sufficient.

What to check: Compare local production efficiency against the ability to buy or trade for resources elsewhere.

Possible solution: Prioritise industries that fit the Node’s strengths and use trade where producing locally is inefficient.
